Some high pressure and/or abrasive services require an abrasion resistant liner to extend the life of the ball valve and to prevent erosion of the pressure containing body. Copeland manufactured it's first line valves over 20 years ago for E. I. DuPont for titanium dioxide service. These valves are still in service today and are an example of the innovative solutions we pride ourselves in providing for our customers.
Titanium Dioxide particles can be sharp, hard and very abrasive. Service temperatures are normally approximay 1200 F (650 C). High velocity gas propels these particles and Alloy 60 is required to meet the corrosion demands of the body. Copeland provides liner for regular valves and its control valve line made of a variety materials including ceramic to prevent wear. Life of these valves after inclusion of the liner was extended by over 600%.
Control Valves in the severe service conditions of high temperature, high velocities, abrasives, corrosives and powder/ore transport may require additional protection to the walls of the valve to prevent wear due to turbulance or particle impingement. Liners of ceramics, carbides or other materials can provide an answer to a need for longer service life. Copeland valves utilize heavy duty, oversized components that increase reliability and prevent unplanned outages.
